Players have noticed it from across the field, too. Running back Mark Ingram, who faced Klein several times when he was with the rival Panthers, used the word “leader” twice in a brief description of what he has noticed from Klein.
As a quarterback, Klein finished third in the Heisman voting in 2012 behind Johnny Manziel and Manti Te’o on the way to leading the Wildcats to the Big 12 title. He finished his college career with 57 rushing touchdowns.
“He’s brought a lot of the things that we were looking for, so that’s exciting. He’s having a good camp,” Saints coach Sean Payton said of Klein. “I think one of the elements is being smart and trying to acquire as many guys that understand the game and can diagnose and solve problems. The mental errors and missed assignments, those things will get you beat. It’s an area that we’ve struggled with, quite honestly, in the past.”
“I wanted a little redemption from that first goal against. That was my bad,” Klein said. “But the second and third we were kind of making plays and getting in on the forecheck and it was nice to see.”
New York Rangers defenseman Kevin Klein announced his retirement from the National Hockey jersey china League today, ending a career which included parts of 12 seasons in the league. Make no mistake, however, Klein is focused on the task at hand to help the Rangers reach the Stanley Cup finals. New York Rangers defenseman Kevin Klein is out indefinitely with a fractured thumb, the Rangers announced Wednesday.

“Klein stuck with it and got us two big goals, but for me, it was a team game tonight,” Vigneault said. “I thought one of our better defensive games of the year. We didn’t give their top-end players a lot of looks and it was because of our compete level and our defensive structure.”
Off the ice, Klein has a few interesting passions that help him forget about hockey. He admits, even as a kid, he didn’t like to watch hockey. His father was a plumber by trade, so Klein would watch and learn. As a pro, Klein will keep up with other players’ stats, but the game stays at the rink. He has tried to find a balance with some of his non-hockey interests, including woodworking and fixing old cars and motorcycles.
I would argue that they already do show their cards when they reveal how they compensate the players in terms of salary. But I suppose that, if lower-paid players end up getting protected over higher-paid players in some cases, teams might not want that kind of naked truth being blatantly blasted out there for posterity.
Heck, perhaps backup goalie Antti Raanta would appeal the most to the Golden Knights. He’s been lights-out this season behind Lundqvist. He has one more year and $1 million left on his contract after this season. What a bargain. But I think the real decision for the Rangers will be between Girardi and Klein.
